by flipper in......... and i live out here in northern california !
i mean , they go to all that humungous labor, build a huge box to put over the oil gushing out and wham 5,000 ft. deep it gets clogged with ice crystals.
now they are talking about a couple other alternatives in the news- all the while today haliburton, bp, and other reps are meeting with federal officials getting into a pissing match and fight over who is responsible for the spill ?

Hi flipper, I hope you are well, I'm not here so often nowadays.
Although you agreed with what I wrote, did you notice that you went straight back to oil and energy sources? That's where we miss the point. When folks think of oil, they usually think - gas (petrol!), diesel, aeroplanes and maybe oil-fired power stations (go figure!) or boilers/heating systems.
Yes there are cleaner alternatives to these - solar, wind or wave power on the natural side - or nuclear power, which in spite of the risks is actually quite safe, clean and efficient enugh for large-scale energy production.
BUT, what about alternatives for all the other everyday stuff - soaps, detergents, cosmetics, paints, dyes, anything plastic, medicines, synthetic fibres (well we could go back to only wool, cotton, flax!). With what would we surface our roads?
Almost everything you touch has seen contact with an oil product at some point. It's about far more than just the 'obvious' - I fear we've advanced too far now to be able to manage without. What is needed is for oil extraction and distribution to be responsibly managed - which sadly in this case, it hasn't.

Jehovahs witnesses found dead bodies in Milton Crescent, Lupset, on Tuesday.
by Mythbuster ina devoted married couple were found dead at their home in wakefield after an apparent suicide pact.. .
jehovah's witnesses are understood to have alerted police after noticing a strong smell coming from the couple's home in milton crescent, lupset, on tuesday.. officers broke through the back door and discovered the bodies of diane hardcastle, in her 40s, and her husband derek, aged in his 50s.. police say there are no suspicious circumstances and are believed to be investigating the possibility the couple deliberately overdosed on unknown tablets.. it is unclear how long the couple had been dead before they were discovered.. neighbours bernard and margaret stringer, said mr hardcastle suffered from kidney problems and had been undergoing dialysis treatment for a number of years.. mrs stringer, 71, said: "they were friendly enough and would pass the time of day.
neighbour kathleen cotton, 78, said: "they were always together, it's a shock when it's a couple like that with no age to them.".

How sad that it was JWs who noticed something wasn't right rather than the neighbours.

Toured a Bicycle factory yesterday, one of the better inventions we humans came up with and still a popular way to get around.
Whaddaya think they make the tyres from? and the paint? And the corrosion inhibitors they put into the steel frames? Or the resins for lightweight carbon frames?
Not meaning to be confrontational but oil literally keeps the world running at the moment. Oil products are used in so many things you might not even think of... and if the world wants oil, it has to be prepared to pay a very high price sometimes
I'm very unhappy about what's happened and hope that the damage caused will be cleared up and repaired as best and soon as possible. I too think BP have a lot of questions to answer - and answer they will eventually...

I have a rescued 13 yr old longhair cat who is a flu carrier - she sneezes a lot and often needs her nose wiping and dried snot combing from her fur
I also have a 14-15 yr old cat who survived two cancer ops last year, but it looks like he may have another tumour now and I don't think he'd survive another op as I suspect the last 2 have taken their toll on his heart but he's happy and well for now so we'll see how he goes.
Both are quite happy with a warm place to sleep and plenty of food and love!

YOUR DAILY JOURNAL
by compound complex indear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

Adam wasn't a ROBOT----so damn what??
by Terry inadam was never a baby cradled in his loving mother's arms.
nobody sang a lullabye to him or tickled him just to make him smile.. adam didn't grow up with brothers and sisters and a playground or a teddy bear or sitting around a family dinner with loving conversations.. adam wasn't given by god the things we take for granted as minimum requirements to normalize us.. this is what makes the genesis account so cold and unloving on god's side of the argument.. adam had no friends.. adam never played a game with companions or sat around a campfire and sang a song.. adam never grew up with music in his ears.. there was no art or literature, poetry or encouragement.. whatever humanity is---wasn't there for him to shape him.. .
his was a cold, empty, loveless existence until eve appeared.. eve had no mother, sisters or family life as a child either.. eve had never been cuddled by her mother and lovingly encouraged to be or do anything.. adam and eve were raw humanity with nobody to say to them "i love you.".

the only companion he ever knew beyond some disembodied voice from the sky
Assuming a literal Genesis account, this is incorrect - it is recorded that God walked in the garden - that's why A&E hid. If this was so, then there may have been a living/loving/learning relationship between God and Adam and Eve.
We can't project what we perceive as our needs to develop as humans onto lives from the past whether real or imaginary!
And if this is so, the robot theory falls flat.

Do I care about other people? Yes
Do I care about what other people think of me? Not particularly!
